The all-new Volkswagen Amarok rocks

A variety engines and transmissions will be available for the Amarok. A 5-speed manual transmission is paired with the base engine, a 2.0-liter turbodiesel that produces 110kW/350Nm of torque and sends power to the rear wheels. Body types for single and double cabs are both available. The following 2.0-liter turbodiesel has a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission with an output of 125kW/405Nm.
DRIVEtorque understands that the first Dealer Authorised units will arrive in Zimbabwe around April 2024. It is already on sale in South Africa. There is no pricing yet for Zimbabwe.
Exterior
The Amarok sports a hood that is straight and quite upright, clearly inspired by the Volkswagen. Similar to the condensed LED headlights that are standard on all models, the bars that span the radiator grille horizontally. The Amarok PanAmericana and Amarok Aventura are equipped with the brand-new IQ.LIGHT LED headlights. They produce a unique light pattern and enable interactive illumination.
The radiator grille unit either blends into the front section's next horizontal level, depending on the model, or, in the case of the PanAmericana and Aventura, into an X-shaped design below the transverse bars. On both top variations, the word "Amarok" is imprinted above the number plate holder. To its left and right are the LED fog lights, which come standard on the Amarok Life and higher.
Interior
The new Amarok's interior features a high-quality, practical appearance with its simple controls, digital cockpit, and tablet-style infotainment display. A clearer view and a wide range of control options are provided by the new digital cockpit and a display unit with a 10 or 12-inch screen that is vertically positioned. The inside has been designed in a very practical and high-quality manner, with self-explanatory and digital displays.
Digital instruments with a size of 8.0 inches or 12 inches and a contemporary touchscreen with a size of 10 inches to 12 inches for the infotainment system make up the range of display units.
Additionally, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles added a combination of ergonomically designed push/rotary controls and digital features to the Amarok. For example, these hard keys can be used to adjust the four-wheel drive system's settings and the infotainment system's volume. Depending on the specification, the frames for these durable and upscale-appearing components are made of aluminum.
More than 20 new assistance systems
Up to 25 assistance technologies, depending on specification, can make driving even more simple and, in certain situations, safer. The second-generation Amarok has more than 20 of these new systems, including an automatic cruise control system (referred to as a "intelligent speed control assistant"), a parking assistant for assisting with maneuvering into and out of parking spaces, a 360-degree all-around view (dubbed "Area View"), a lane change assistant, and a road sign recognition system.
Engines and powertrain
Four turbodiesel engines will be available. Customers will have the option of either a manual or automated gearbox. Derivatives with more horsepower come with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
