Top Car Brands to Drive Excitement at the 2025 St John’s Spring Fair
The annual St John’s Spring Fair has steadily grown from a small community gathering into one of Harare’s most anticipated family events. This year’s edition, taking place over two days in Borrowdale this September 6-7, will combine entertainment, food, craft stalls and live performances with something a little different — a strong line-up of vehicles on display from some of Zimbabwe’s best-known motoring brands.

Automotive Showcase Expands
While the fair has traditionally centred around family activities and local businesses, cars have become a recurring attraction in recent years. Exhibitors say the event provides a platform to connect directly with everyday families outside of conventional showrooms.
Among the brands expected at this year’s fair is Mitsubishi, represented by its compact SUV, the ASX, and the versatile Triton pickup. Both models are pitched as family-oriented choices blending comfort with practicality. Visitors may also run into familiar faces: rugby captain and Mitsubishi ambassador Hilton Mudariki is scheduled to attend, while there are reports that singer Tamy Moyo could make an appearance.

Spotlight on leading Chinese brands
Local distributor Zimoco will introduce several vehicles from Great Wall Motors (GWM). These include the updated H6, the youthful Jolion Pro, and the larger H7, which is positioned at the premium end of the Chinese manufacturer’s range. Zimoco’s marketing officer, Tafadzwa Nyabuta, suggested the line-up reflects rising interest among families seeking both affordability and advanced safety features.

Also featured this year is Chery Zimbabwe, with its Tiggo SUV series. The models range from the compact Tiggo 4 Pro to the three-row Tiggo 8 Pro Max. Chery’s sales and marketing manager, Rutendo Chabururuka, said the vehicles are designed to strike a balance between modern technology and family practicality.

More Than Cars
Despite the attention around the motoring showcase, organizers emphasise that the Spring Fair remains a broad family event. Alongside vehicle exhibits, visitors can expect games, live music, food stalls and craft markets. The emphasis, organizers say, is on creating “a community space” for families, alumni and local residents and business personnel.

With thousands of attendees expected over the weekend, the fair offers a snapshot of broader trends — from how international car brands are positioning themselves in Zimbabwe, to how community events continue to adapt and expand.
