The all-powerful Range Rover with sportier designs
The all-new Range Rover Sport has a beautiful cabin, with elegant styling and premium materials throughout. The seats are comfortable and provide plenty of head- and legroom, but the optional third-row seats make you feel like in most SUVs can do with more space. There are plenty of standard and available features. The infotainment system is complex as you begin but exciting as you get used to it.
The Range Rover Sport seats five people in its standard configuration, and the available third row increases the seating capacity to seven.
Leather upholstery and power-adjustable front seats come standard. Premium leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, massaging front seats, heated and ventilated rear seats, a refrigerated front center console, and a heated steering wheel are available.
The highly adjustable front seats make it easy to find a suitable driving position. They’re comfortable and supportive as well, though the ample side bolstering may bother larger drivers. The second-row rear seats have enough head- and legroom for adults to ride comfortably, but the available third-row seats are incredibly cramped. No adults will want to ride back there, and even children will feel squeezed on longer drives.
For securing child safety seats, the Range Rover Sport has two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the rear outboard seats.
Standard features in the Range Rover Sport include dual-zone automatic climate control and the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system with two 10-inch touch screens, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, an eight-speaker audio system, satellite radio, HD Radio, a USB port, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
The Range Rover Sport’s two large touch screens are easy to see. The infotainment system takes time to master but it is exhilarating once you get into the groove.
Available features include a panoramic sunroof, tri- or quad-zone automatic climate control, a rear-seat entertainment system, and multiple Meridian audio systems. You can also equip the Range Rover Sport with Land Rover’s Activity Key, which is a waterproof wristband that lets you lock or unlock your vehicle.
Standard driver assistance features include a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane keep assist.
Available active safety features include a head-up display, blind spot monitoring, driver drowsiness monitoring, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert, parallel and perpendicular park assist, 360-degree parking sensors, and a surround-view parking camera system. Also available is a clear exit monitor, which helps you avoid opening the car door when traffic is approaching.
Leave the engine and 8-speed automatic gearbox to their own devices and you’ll find power delivery to be nice and progressive. The build of speed is friendly, something you’ll appreciate in town. When you punch the accelerator, the engine gets exited immediately. The engine comes into its element at a maximum power of (PS/kW/rpm) 249 / 183 / 4,000 and there is a constant supply of power to make you smile. Maximum torque of (Nm/rpm) 600 / 1,250-2,250 is available at your disposal. You can easily register 0-100kph time in 8.36sec with the plush Range Rover Sport.
The way the engine sounds is also pleasant. It does not have the whine of the supercharged V6 or the hoarse note of the SVR’s V8 but it’s fun to hear the four-cylinder unit’s soundtrack transition from a muted growl to a louder snarl as you press on. Whoever tuned the acoustics of the engine sure has done a good job.
