The New Ford Ranger Platinum: Unveiling Unparalleled Luxury and Sophistication
At the very top of the lineup is the Ranger Platinum, an SUV that combines the best of all worlds: great mobility, superior comfort, and refinement.

Stunning elegant design with standard features including 20-inch alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights, and silk chrome exterior finishes; inside, you'll find premium leather upholstery, 10-way power adjustable heated and cooled front seats, and a 12.4-inch instrument cluster.

A state-of-the-art 3.0L V6 Diesel engine producing 184 kW and 600 Nm of torque is coupled with permanent four-wheel drive to provide unrivalled handling both on and off-road, as well as exceptional towing capacity.
The most opulent and refined Ranger yet, the Ranger Platinum, is Ford's latest attempt to establish new standards in the cutthroat bakkie market.

The Platinum is the newest member of the Ranger lineup, after the announcement of the Tremor. At the very top of the regular Ranger lineup is the Platinum series, which shares honours with the Ranger Raptor, the undisputed king of off-road performance.

In 2023, the new Ranger dominated the Southern African double-cab segment. Its exceptional all-round capabilities, whether used for work or play, along with its car-like driving characteristics and outstanding safety, were the reasons behind this success, according to Doreen Mashinini, General Manager for Marketing at Ford South Africa. The new Rangers Platinum breaks new ground in the bakkie market by offering the same high standards of comfort, elegance, and refinement seen in premium SUVs.

We debuted the adventure-ready Wildtrak X at the end of last year, and the new Ranger Tremor and Ranger Platinum round out our lineup, according to Mashinini. "This provides customers with an extensive lineup of Ranger models to cater to their individual requirements, whether they're residing in the bustling city of Sandton or Sea Point, combining their daily commute with exhilarating sports on weekends, or fearlessly conquering their beloved 4x4 trails."
Elegance and panache

The distinctive grille design of the Ranger Platinum sets it apart from the standard Ranger models. It has accentuated mesh and a silk chrome finish on the horizontal bars and grille surround. For an extra special touch, there is three-dimensional "PLATINUM" badging on the bonnet and lower parts of the front doors.

From the side steps to the side vents, window linings, and rear bumper, the vehicle's exquisite silk chrome detailing is everywhere. The 20-inch alloy machine-faced wheels with black accents and all-season tyres are housed in the emphasised wheel arches. For a more polished and unified look, the front bumper, mirror caps, and door handles are colour-coded.

Standard on the loadbox are the fixed sports hoop and side rails, and for added convenience, the tailboard has extra dampening. Practical features include roof rails that are a carryover from Wildtrak vehicles and the Cargo Management System, which makes it simple to securely fasten all kinds of goods. The convenient motorised roller shutter is an optional extra that buyers might choose to install.

For the time being, Ford's revolutionary Matrix LED lights, integrated into the distinctive g-clamp headlamp design, are only available on the Raptor and Platinum Ranger models. One of the many advantages of the completely adjustable Matrix LED lighting system is its glare-free high beam, which improves vision at night without blinding other drivers.

High Beam Boost, another revolutionary feature of the lights, employs a cluster of inactive LEDs to provide 30% more light than the Matrix LED high beam on its own. On low beam, there's also a feature called dynamic bending lights that may be activated by sensors that detect the vehicle's speed and steering position. This function can bend the headlights up to 15 degrees, giving the driver a better view of the road ahead than with regular, non-bending lights.
Iconic Silver, Frozen White, Carbonised Grey, Lucid Red, and Agate Black are the five colour choices available to customers for the Ranger Platinum.

Although the Ranger Platinum's upscale heritage is immediately apparent from its outward upgrades, the cabin really exemplifies the no-compromise commitment to comfort, convenience, and ultimate luxury. Accent stitching, "PLATINUM" emblems on the front seatbacks and floor mats, and superior quilted and perforated high-grade leather make these seats distinctive to the Platinum model.
In addition to a 10-way power adjustment with memory function, the front seats also include heating and ventilated cooling features. No matter the weather, the passengers may easily choose the optimum sitting position and be very comfortable. A heated steering wheel is another perk for the driver, especially on cold winter mornings.

Similarly, the instrument panel gets a unique makeover with soft-touch trim that has accent stitching, dashboard and door appliques that are attractively finished in black maple, satin aluminium trim strips, and an upper glovebox for further functionality. As a basic feature, ambient lighting allows owners to customise the interior ambiance to their liking or state of mind.

High-end technology
The Platinum maintains its position as the top-of-the-line model by including the Ranger Raptor's distinctive 12.4-inch full-width LCD instrument cluster. All of the vehicle's settings are clearly visible on this widescreen display, which also changes its theme and visuals depending on the selectable drive mode you choose. Additionally, it may be easily adjusted to fit the driver's own tastes.

Similar to the newly revealed Ranger Tremor, the Platinum gets the Pro Trailer Back-up Assist with Trailer Reverse Guidance as standard equipment. This function is already available as an option on Wildtrak derivatives and has been introduced to the Raptor and Wildtrak X as well. By allowing the driver to position the trailer precisely using the rotary Selectable Drive Modes controller located in the central console, Pro Trailer Backup Assist eliminates the need for guessing while reversing a car with a trailer.

As the driver maintains control of the trailer with the wheel, Trailer Reverse Guidance displays helpful visuals and up to seven camera angles to assist in reversing the vehicle.
Like the Ranger Raptor and Wildtrak, the Platinum comes complete with a plethora of additional innovative features. Among these features are a 12-inch touchscreen display in the centre stack that houses the most recent SYNC 4A infotainment system, a 360-degree camera system, a SYNC Off-road screen, a premium B&O sound system with ten speakers, and wireless charging for Apple CarPlay and
Android Auto.
There are 240-volt and 12-volt power outlets in the load bay and under the central console, as well as a 400-watt inverter, so you can charge your electronics and run accessories while you're on the go. In addition, there are two USB ports, one for the front and one for the back of the vehicle.

Of particular note are the seven Selectable Drive Modes (Normal, Eco, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Mud/Ruts, Sand, and Rock Crawl), the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Active Park Assist with autonomous parallel and perpendicular parking, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Lane Centering, all of which are standard on the Ranger Platinum.
The Platinum also has first-in-class occupant safety features, including far-side airbags mounted between the front seats, making it the first Ranger vehicle to do so. In the case of an accident, this keeps the passengers from slamming into one another, lessening the likelihood of serious injury. Along with the driver's knee airbag, there are dual front, side, and curtain airbags that provide additional protection in the event of a collision.

Enhanced functionality
Having a high-end luxury vehicle's aesthetics is important, but having smooth performance is even more crucial; thankfully, the Ranger Platinum delivers on both counts. It shares the same 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine as the top-tier Wildtrak model, which has a torque range of 1,750 to 2,250 r/min and a power output of 184 kW at 3,250 r/min.
The city, the wide road, towing (up to 3.5 tonnes), and off-road adventures are all made easy with its highly acclaimed V6 engine. Equipped with a switch-operated electronic parking brake, it is paired with Ford's advanced 10-speed automatic gearbox that may be electronically controlled with the small e-Shifter.

A full-time four-wheel drive system is standard on all V6 models in the range, ensuring sure-footed handling and grip in every driving situation. With the option to switch to 4x4 high-range (4H) for gravel and 4x4 low-range (4L) for more challenging terrain (4L), 4 Auto (4A) handles both on-road and off-road operations by default. By shifting to 2H, you can only have rear-wheel drive.
