Ranger Raptor Features Motorsport-Inspired Technology Performance Shift Indicator with Customizable Settings Taken from the Mustang
In order to assure maximum acceleration, race drivers have long employed shift lights. By selecting M for Manual on the e-Shifter, the driver has complete control over when to change gear. When driving for fuel efficiency, the programmable Performance Shift Indicator can also be used.

The high-powered 292kW Ford Ranger Raptor was created and engineered to give the most exhilarating off-road and on-road experiences.

According to Dave Burn, the lead platform engineer for the Ranger Raptor, "The Ranger Raptor was designed and engineered by car enthusiasts for car enthusiasts." Ranger Raptor "demands to be driven" and was "inspired by desert racing 1."

Ford equipped it with a customizable Performance Shift Light Indicator3 for this reason.

For decades, race car drivers have employed shift lights to indicate the ideal engine speed at which to change gears for optimal acceleration on or off the asphalt. 2015's Mustang GT350 was the first Ford car to have one on a production vehicle.

Burn stated that the Ranger Raptor is fundamentally a performance truck. The Performance Shift Indicator is just one in a long list of performance-derived features, such as the anti-lag functionality in Baja mode2 or the FOX Shocks with Live Valve technology that feature on Ranger Raptor.

We raced a modified version of the Raptor at Baja1 and it is now competing at the Tatts Finke Desert Race (9–12 June).
There are moments when you want to take control for yourself, even though most drivers will keep their Ranger Raptor's e-Shifter in the Drive position most of the time. The driver has complete control over when to shift gears using the magnesium-alloy paddle shifters by selecting M for Manual on the e-Shifter; examples of this include driving for fuel efficiency or on a winding, narrow route.

When it's time to shift into the next gear, the Performance Shift Indicator can be activated to provide a visual and audio warning. The driver can change the Shift Tone and the Shift Point (between 4000 and 6500 rpm) by enabling and customizing it through the vehicle's primary menu in the 12.4-inch instrument cluster.

The auditory warning, according to Burn, is especially helpful because it prevents you from having to take your eyes off the road.

"There are advantages beyond performance, so being able to change gear when Ranger Raptor prompts you to do so enables you to customize the truck to suit the terrain and style of driving you're doing. When driving for fuel efficiency, the Performance Shift Indicator can be utilized to motivate you to shift gears more frequently, according to Burn.

You'll notice the tachometer glows as the revs rise and changes color when it approaches the selected shift point if the Performance Shift Indicator is turned on.

Press "Settings," choose "Performance Shift Indicator," click "Enabled," and then choose the "Shift Point" (between 4000 and 6500 rpm) and "Shift Tone" values to enable the Performance Shift Indicator.
