BAICs BEIJING X55 is the first-ever Chinese SA Car of the Year winner.

BAIC South Africa is pleased to announce that the new BEIJING X55 has won the Compact Family category of the 2023 South African Car of the Year (COTY) competition. In the 37-year history of this famous event, the recognition of a Chinese product is a first.
The BEIJING X55, which was introduced in November 2022, has so far had a significant impact on the market. During the demanding testing days for this year's COTY nominees, the judges were very impressed by its unmatched value for money, great performance, and remarkable fuel efficiency.

Two ISOFIX baby seat mounting points and speed-induction door locks further strengthen the BEIJING X55's impressive safety credentials. "The BEIJING X55's design resulted in the lowest NVH performance in its class, and its extensive list of safety features for peace-of-mind motoring led to this compact family SUV being awarded the C-NCAP Five-star Safety Design," says Basil Costa, Business Development Director at BAIC South Africa.
The BEIJING X55's 1.5-liter VGT turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 130 kW and 305 Nm and is paired to a seven-speed DCT automatic transmission, gives it exceptional performance, drivability, and control for a tiny SUV. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds because to its very responsive Euro VI engine. Despite its outstanding performance, this award-winning engine has a class-leading fuel consumption of only 7.7 liters per 100 kilometers.
The cutting-edge sports design of the BEIJING X55 will stand out on the roadway. Its Smart Technology and Zero-gravity Integrated sports seats enhance the comfort of the driver and passengers.
